A little girl was constantly biting her fingernails. Her mother was always telling her, “If you don’t stop biting your nails, you’ll get fat.” She told her daughter this every time she caught her. “Does biting your nails really make you fat?” the daughter asked one day. “Yes,” answered the mother. “That’s what happened to old Mrs. Wilson next door. She kept on biting her nails and got fatter and fatter.” This impressed the little girl very much, and she decided she wouldn’t bite her fingernails any more. Later that day, the mother and daughter took the bus downtown to go shopping. A young lady who was very pregnant got on the bus after them. The little girl stared at the pregnant lady with a disapproving on her face. The young lady noticed this and asked the little girl, “Is something wrong, dear?” The little girl frowned and replied, “I know what you’ve been doing!”
